Yeah! Sometimes new software feels downright hostile to old hardware for no reason; its probably part of the reason we have such an e-waste problem.

(But its Linux so its still usually pretty fast)

I feel like it also important to mention that VMs take more processing power than just running it off the LiveUSB; so it'll be slower than the real thing.

or you could use a liveUSB. Essentially (most) linux installers have a temporary copy of the OS you want when you open them. You can probably have a good play around and as long as you don't click the big INSTALL button, it'll all be temporary!

I see we're posting Calvin and Hobbes today so I just want to chime in with one of my all-time favorites. Hobbes nails it in the second to last panel.

Bluesky has only begun reaching active social media status; it'll be a while before those problems start taking hold again. And when they do; it'll be much easier to graft protective measures on the custom algos and federation than it would be to do it the other way round.

that I couldnt really get on other social media. The algo isnt pushing me towards drama. Plus the need for private accounts isnt *absurdly* necessary with community block lists going around and starving trolls of oxygen. I realize this doesnt protect against large scale targetted harassment but...

I think that's a somewhat valid point; but it misses the forest for the trees. In my experience; private accounts dont really give you the tools to avoid drama as much as they give protection when drama comes your way. If I feel that a certain community is bad; I can leave it, easily in a way...

love cant; but theres nothing stopping you from using lua in a 3D game. Particularly with something like raylib's lua bindings.
