They are certainly a step in the right direction, but a standard British kettle is still inferior to a proper Japanese hot water kettle. The UK lacks instantramen culture, and it shows.

need to get one of these to complement my neurofuzzy. Tbf I'm a FREEDOM LOVING AMERICAN and I've had an electric kettle for the past 7 or so years. They're so useful and a metal one is like $30-50, not sure why this isn't a gift you just give ur kids when they move out
