I should add that, also, deleted posts aren't *truly* deleted. They are no longer parsed by Bluesky and thus won't show up, but they are still recorded in your PDS and can be viewed by tech savvy folks if your PDS resides somewhere public.

This is partly correct, as it used to be the case. Posts are now marked for deletion on the server side and are permanently deleted after an undefined amount of time(my guess is about 72 hours). This of course, does not stop third-party APIs from retaining records. github.com/bluesky-soci...
