Everytime twitter’s ceo does something dumb I’m reminded I do have options. But old habits die hard and I do miss all the connections I’ve built over a decade over there. ☠️ Really salty that level of incompetence is making us lose so much.

I never used Twitter very much but I feel for people like you who have relied on Twitter for so long and grown these connections. I think it really exemplifies how important it is to have a community owned/managed platform

It's definitely sad to see. Hell, I'm STILL making connections there. I'm just glad that, each time something like this happens, we all do our best to reach out and hold on. :)

Yes I think that’s the thing about it. For so many people twitter is a habit. Not just a career hub and a place to connect with others but a habit. A routine. It’s hard to let it go. I changed the icons place on my phone. Bsky is now on the 1st page while twitter is not. It helps.

I spent close to 16 years there. Just imagine the levels and amount of connections I made. Some have jumped over to these alternatives, but many others won't ever see again. Maybe we've become a little too dependent on social media for everything?

Most of my Twitter friends don't have a key to BlueSky yet, so I'm just conflicted. I don't even know if they'll come here or go over to Threads or some other app instead. You get 1 idiot make the choices on an app and it scatters whole communities
