It’s not the worst place. Definitely works as a sanctuary. Very one sided conversation in a nice little echo chamber that is fun to get away from the fast paced real world. But definitely the fediverse is not a great solution for privacy. GitHub is an example of what happens to public data

Well there is still Mastodon which is arguably the better platform right now. Better content warnings, DMs etc.
