I’m genuinely surprised at how many white Americans, religious or not, are oblivious to the fact that this way of speaking is common among Black Southerners (who usually aren’t white supremacist Christian Nationalists) in Montgomery, in Alabama, throughout the South, and anywhere else they’ve moved.

Yes, 100%, and I agree with Robert Downen’s assessment on the Old Bird Site. He is a journalist for the [Austin] Texas Tribune, where he covers democracy and threats to it, and previously worked at the [Houston] Chronicle, where he covered religion.
Possible reply, especially if o e is a believer exposed to this hurtful nonsense: "yeah, that's what Job's friends said when Job complained he didn't deserve his misfortunes and illness. And scripture says they were totally wrong."

This is one of my most-shared posts to date and I feel like we need to remember. The Clean Air Act and Clean Water Act have made a huge difference! We addressed the hole in the ozone layer and it is healing up! We should not take these things for granted!

Absolutely. I hate it when people talk about humans associating food with love as a problem! If it's all you associate with love, yes, or you only associate unhealthy food with love, it may be a problem, but otherwise it's simply our nature.
