My 93 year old grandma is suffering because 1, internalized ableism is keeping her from using aids like a magnifying glass and a walker, and 2, she has reached an age of mental deterioration that makes it difficult for her to learn how to use assistive technology like Alexa or audiobook apps.
My Nana’s pride is what stops her wearing a hearing aid in public. She asked for Botox for her 80th and the clinician had to explain they don’t do it on people that old. She was a beauty queen that competed with Joan Collins in the 50s but has never moved on/became a narcissist
Weirdly in a similar situation here. Nans 93 too. I can only contact her on the landline. I’ve suggested mum get her an exercise watch she can share data and mum can check how she is etc how much she’s moving. It’s ideal for the elderly but it’s setting it up and then them actually using it! lol
