Boiled down to the core, a government led by PiS and Jarosław Kaczyński has slowly dismantled democratic institutions during the past eight years. Polish democracy is not dead, but it is severely injured - and government re-election could signal the beginning of the end.

OOPS: This one should be #4! PiS' (poling at 37%) primary opponent is centre-right PO/KO (polling at 30%) led by Donald Tusk. But there are also other opposition parties - New Left (NL), centrist/conservative Third Way (TD), and a massive joker in far-right Konfederacja (polling around 10% each).

The coalition motives of Konfederacja remain unclear although its leaders have expressed a general lack of willingness to cooperate with anyone, including PiS.
