Oh my god: "Every one of us who worked in an emergency, intensive care, or surgical setting treated pre-teen children who were shot in the head or chest *on a regular or even a daily basis*." - 99 US health care workers in letter to Biden/Harris www.gazahealthcareletters.org/usa-letter-o...

Children are universally considered innocents in armed conflict. However, every single signatory to this letter saw children in Gaza who suffered violence that must have been deliberately directed at them. Specifically, every one of us who worked in an emergency, intensive care, or surgical setting treated pre-teen children who were shot in the head or chest on a regular or even a daily basis. It is impossible that such widespread shooting of young children throughout Gaza, sustained over the course of an entire year is accidental or unknown to the highest Israeli civilian and military authorities.

President Biden and Vice President Harris, we wish you could see the nightmares that plague so many of us since we have returned: dreams of children maimed and mutilated by our weapons, and their inconsolable mothers begging us to save them. We wish you could hear the cries and screams our consciences will not let us forget. We cannot fathom why you continue arming the country that is delib

And yes, the administration eventually had to exempt green cards, and yes, the courts struck down that version of the ban. But the point is the admin tried to revoke what had been a permanent residency permits on a whim. And the courts look very different now. www.vox.com/2017/1/28/14...

But the Trump administration now says they may return to America from abroad if they pass security checks

This is a vital point, as there are significant numbers of legal immigrants who voice support for actions against undocumented immigrants. They need to realize they’re just as likely to be targeted by a second Trump White House. They’re coming for everyone.

I was a green card holder and happened to be at the airport flying out when the first Muslim Ban went into effect & trapped people. It was made clear that green cards didn’t matter. It scared the crap out of me! I can’t imagine how immigrants with less privilege felt, or how they can have forgotten.

This is a huge step forward toward access for the most vulnerable and I’m thrilled it’s happened so quickly. But still glad the International AIDS society is continuing to push for universal access.

3 October 2024 (Geneva, Switzerland) – IAS – the International AIDS Society – applauds moves by Gilead Sciences to make generic injectable lenacapavir for HIV prevention widely available, but cautions that the current agreements still leave out millions around the world.
Gilead announced on 2 October 2024 that it had signed royalty-free, non-exclusive licensing agreements with six generic manufacturers to increase access to lenacapavir for HIV prevention in 120 high-incidence, resource-limited countries.
“The licensing agreements enabling generic versions of the HIV prevention drug, lenacapavir, in certain countries is an important step forward, but large parts of the world remain excluded, including countries where trials were conducted,” IAS President Beatriz Grinsztejn said. “We are hopeful that the speed with which these agreements were reached will be maintained, and that the rest of the world will soon benefit from similar agreements to make lenacapavir more affordable…

Gilead’s 2x/yr injectable lencapavir was 100% efficacious at preventing HIV among women in its trial published this summer. It’s a game changer for those at risk who may struggle to take a daily pill. And now Gilead is licensing generics manufacturers to make it!

His Muslim ban demonstrated the same thing. Green cards were suddenly irrelevant if held by undesirable immigrants.

“Inconvenient” is the most dismissive, deliberately understated way to describe the horror of being pregnant via rape and denied a choice about it. Like, more power to you if you’ve chosen to carry to term under those circumstances, but it has to be a choice or else it’s actual torture.

Yes! “Somehow inconvenient *to the society*”. Not even the “inconvenience” is about the person actually pregnant.
