It is why the Ontario NDP has and will continue to advance legislation that makes Ontario a better safer home for 2SLGBTQI+ communities. Together, we can create a province that embraces diversity, champions human rights, and celebrates everyone for who they are.

The Ontario NDP will always advocate for real rent control, accessible and inclusive healthcare for all ⁠— this includes gender affirming health care and inclusive long-term care homes. We know that 2SLGBTQI+ communities struggle to access safe and affordable housing. This must change.

We look forward to celebrating our communities’ diverse identities as we work to overcome all forms of discrimination and hate.

From the Stonewall riots to the first Pride marches, to the roll-out of antiretroviral drugs ⁠— progress was never assured. It was always hard-won. And we know the fight is far from over.

Pride reminds us that we can accomplish great things because we have done great things before. Pride reminds us how the Black, Indigenous, Racialized, Trans, and Two-Spirit people who also trail-blazed progress are a constant source of inspiration.

With this in mind, the Ontario NDP’s queer caucus and the only one in the Legislative Assembly remark that this is the first Pride since Ford Conservatives voted down our Gender Affirming Health Care Act earlier this February.

As the party who has passed more bills supporting the 2SLGBTQI+ communities than any other, we will always call out injustice.

This Pride is happening during a year where threats to 2SLGBTQI+ communities have continued. From fighting for HIV/AIDS funding to gender affirming health care, the Ontario NDP will always be there to support the community.
