In 1975, when Gov. Evans heard the gov. of CA (Jerry Brown) say he didn't want Vietnamese refugees in his state, Evans sent one of his staff to invite the refugees to WA. He was a good person.

Former US Senator and Washington Governor Dan Evans, who served as chief executive from 1965 to 77, passed away Sept. 20 at 98. I came across this Seattle P-I photo of Evans and his sons Mark and Dan Jr., then 10 and 13, climbing the pre-eruption peak in 1975. #WashingtonState #PNW #Seattle
