The whole point of the original Internet was to stay online even if a nuclear strike took out part of it. Big Tech monopolisation is flying in the face of this very idea.

That’s apocryphal, the original internet was a bundle of single points of failure and starry-eyed optimism. The whole built-to-beat-the-bomb thing was just a rumor that got out of hand.

I mean, the Internet, the underlying network is totally fine. It’s just the meaning of “The Internet” has moved on to include all of the junk running on it.
