The caste system in Transformers is so fascinating to me, and seeing it as a major plot point in One was so cool. Like oh, here’s a movie for kids whose central premise relies upon how unfair it is to be placed in a role because of how you’re born and slave labor to control the means of production

Okay, I'm now just a bit annoyed because even the Bayformers films would have been greatly improved if they explored some of their deeper themes (like 4 touched on how we treat and exploit immigrants and refugees) instead of just remaking the '07 film again and again (even the last two did that).

I'm relieved, the trailer made me think it was just going to be 2017's Power Ranger movie but with robots. I might go see it now

Maybe because kids can still consume entertainment without undergraduate analysis of the material wringing it dry for subtext

I remember reading a transformers comic that had the origins of the deceptions being a miners strike Megatron started, I remember being pretty bummed when it stopped being about revolution vs working within the system and started being about robots fighting.
