The thing about "can't be bothered with legal" is that your opinion on that matters a lot less than legal's.
The way I usually put it is that yes, lawyers are expensive, but they get more, not less expensive the longer you put off seeing one. A consult and maybe an opinion early could save you from litigation fees in the five or six figures later.
