We are repeatedly told by Democrats that the most important thing is winning elections, that that is their highest aim. So if they can't do that against a candidate who is just bumbling around silently or swaying to music at rallies then by definition they're incompetent.

I'm baffled by that too. Kamala is using Obama's playbook now - heck, I'd say she's improved on it. She's reaching across the aisle in ways few candidates have. That looks a lot like competence to me. But it's also damn hard to convince someone who refuses to listen - harcore MAGAts don't listen.
