I do prescribe “plain language” and writing more like you speak than like you think you’re supposed to write. Michael rightly points out that even Elmore Leonard doesn’t write like people actually talk, with all its false starts, crosstalk and mess. Very fair point. “Speech” is idealized here. 2/

Definitely no subtweet involved or criticism implied! I like what you do in this thread, which is lay out your various commitments. These prescriptions/pieces of advise should always be situated, imo
