Seriously people, every decade, it's time for a TDAP booster. If you're outside around old objects, like barns, hiking, architectural salvage yards, or indoors with old metal...so Alive. If you're alive, you need this. Get jabbed, put the even in your calendar for every 10 years.

I feel like adult me did a great job getting this booster in 2020 so I can now remember to get it every year that ends in 0! Also, showing this skeet to my partner who spends the most time around all those things.

I was given a booster when my daughter was born, and I remembered to get a booster when she turned 10. And I'll remember again when she turns 20,

Took this pic specifically so I could check the date for getting my next tetanus shot.

Selfie taken in a mirror showing just my arm with a single tattoo and a small band-aid where I got a tetanus booster shot. Also visibly holding the vaccine packaging with a date on it, so I'll know when it's time for the next one.
Meme from the FB page 'Refutations to Anti-Vaccine Memes' showing an life-like drawn picture of a person upside down on the ground with back arched and only his heels, shoulders and head on the floor. The text reads: 'TETANUS. 𝘊𝘭𝘰𝘴𝘵𝘳𝘪𝘥𝘪𝘶𝘮 𝘵𝘦𝘵𝘢𝘯𝘪. Often fatal.

RESILIENT: forms spores to protect itself
from the elements, including oxygen.

ANYWHERE: Spores can be found on any
surface, not just on rusty nails, (Rose thorns
are the commonest cause of infection.)

DEADLY: One of the deadliest toxins known.
]ust a few bacteria can make enough toxin to cause tetanus.

IMMUNITY: Even if you recover from
tetanus, natural immunity is rare.

FIRST AID: A bleeding wound, oxygenated
environment, using disinfectant is no
guarantee the spores are removed or killed.
Once the bacteria germinate and grow, they
release their toxin.

CURE: None. Once the toxin binds tonerve endings, the process is irreversible, Tetanus immunoglobulin
(TIG), taken from the blood of people who have received the tetanus vaccination, can help but not cure.

There is NO natural immunity. There is NO cure. There is ONLY prevention.
Make sure your tetanus vaccination is up to date.'

I’ll have to check with my nephew as to the age of his oldest daughter. First baby, no one’s allowed to come near her unless their TDAP shot is up to date (ai I got one then; this was pre-Covid). Second baby, no precautions needed before seeing her.

Hurts like hell, but worth it. I garden in a community plot and bike so I wasn't getting tetanus

The 30 something guy who helps us do bigger yard projects (and does that for a living) hasn’t had a tetanus booster. He’s not anti-vax or anything, he just didn’t know or think it was important. And I fear I didn’t convince him.
