A major milestone: Our tracking now shows over 7 million people have been dropped from Medicaid as pandemic enrollment protections continue to unwind. www.kff.org/medicaid/iss...

Do disenrollments include people who got coverage elsewhere and didn’t file to renew?

Millions of people being dropped from Medicaid right now is a reflection of two policy choices: One, the U.S. does not have universal health coverage. Two, we often put in place administrative systems that are burdensome to low-income people, and they fall through the cracks.

Yes… cause removing healthcare involuntarily, disrupting prescriptions/medical support systems for the underprivileged poor is something to celebrate. They will just attempt to enroll again cause they have few choices & it will be more confusing & expensive or they will die or suffer harm #Medicaid

Another proud accomplishment of the Biden Administration. Not one public demonstration, riot, or press conference as they take healthcare from 7 million of the poorest and disabled. I wonder what the overlap is between those 7,000,000 and the 3,000,000 children that have been put back into poverty?

The unwinding has unfortunately given legal cover for Medicaid-hostile states to axe people off the program, or slow walk the rules. It brings to mind the swift cuts in states’ cash assistance rolls in first year of welfare reform. See Washington Post in 1997: www.washingtonpost.com/wp-srv/polit...
