Nucleotide synthesis has been on my watch list for a while, but would they award the prize the year following the mRNA vaccine prize? Protein structure prediction and design has started creeping onto lists...

I have heard the Nobel Committee wants to award the prizes to "more recent" research. And it's definitely worthy of the prize, as so many discoveries are. But I tend to agree 2024 is not the year for this trio.
