This report addresses the one thing that I think makes Big Dumb Truck Problems feel so personal. "Drivers looking to buy a vehicle largely make purchasing decisions out of concern for their own safety, but in doing so, they negatively impact safety for drivers of smaller vehicles and nonoccupants."

The National Safety Council has released a new report explaining how massive vehicles increase crash deaths. AFAIK it's the first comprehensive review of car bloat research. (Disclaimer: I played a supporting role putting it together.) An eye-opening read. t.co/MLsZcd5AKd

"For every life saved in the heaviest 1% of light trucks, more than A DOZEN occupants of other vehicles will die." These are insane numbers, and ones I won't hesitate to mention to my peers (middle class, Midwestern millennials, many of whom are charged with keeping kids alive).
