I don’t know about anyone else but MMATBS was the most musical album I’d heard in hip hop since… well idek prolly tpab 😂. There’s some good stuff on chances album coloring book with choirs and drums… but nothing like the two I mentioned.

Very open minded response. I agree in sum ways, especially the past 5 years of labels pushing carbon copy artist in hip hop and rnb. There are a lot of very big artist who have been able to transcend the genre such as Kendrick Lamar. I feel his production and lyricism on his last album was 10/10.

Hip hop is probably the most in depth contextual songwriting in all of music. Storytelling, analogies, metaphors, entendres, themes… everything is in rap.
