Folks… I have some *exciting* news to share. 🚀 Today I’m starting a new position as Product Lead at Font Awesome! I wrote a bit more on my blog here: lea.verou.me/blog/2024/aw...
Never heard of it (which doesn’t mean it’s untrue)
This is the single best article on color spaces I have seen around. Well written, well informed and illustrated with interactive visualizations. Truly brilliant work by Eric Portis! ericportis.com/posts/2024/o...
For me it was a painting I saw at the Centre Pompidou in Paris on my first trip abroad when I was seven years old. A painting filled with electric blue, nothing else, called Monochrome Bleu. I was floored that something so ostensibly simple could reach one of the world’s most renowned art museums.

This is a wonderful article! What @Lea.Verou.me defines here is what I consider platform design, which I think sits one level below UI systems design. Ie: Product design ⬇️ Systems design (UI) ⬇️ Platform design Although the Eigensolution and composability approach to design is relevant to each.
🔥 New blog post! More abstract than past writing, with design thinking insights that apply to creator tools from visual editors to web technologies. A distillation of my > 10y experience making things that empower people to make things. Hope you enjoy reading it as much as I enjoyed writing it!
UIs have become so synonymous with GUIs that hearing that text-based UIs (terminals, programming /markup languages, APIs, etc.) are UIs is surprising to most. I would propose “TUI” to describe these, but it’s already a thing, and sadly too narrowly scoped (seems to only encompass command-line UIs).
