Sorry if I came across as saying Pictish was a derivative of old Welsh as that wasn’t what I meant. Just that a great deal of what we call Scotland is old Welsh. I believe pict is Scandinavian?

Pictish *was* Brittonic, or at least a very close sibling; it's just that it was distinct from the language of yr Hen Ogledd.
