The movie clicks into place for me when I realized it’s an Indiana Jones power trip and it’s a lot of fun to see him blast through these set pieces. It’s a great stylistic contrast from the adventure serials they were referencing in the first 3. Indie feels a lot closer to a Sci fi pulp hero there

no that's 100% what i realized a while back and it drove me insane because it was BRILLIANT. its the 50s! they don't make adventure serials anymore! they make sci-fi b-movies!
