Not so long ago, one of my friends asked me what sphinxes might look like in my setting, Eanor, where humans do not exist. It happened that I had been thinking about this before. I decided that there sphinxes were a hybrid of a lion, bird, and cobra, preserving the Egyptian and Oriental flavor.
