If you're telling a person in Asheville who lost everything "that's what you get for voting for climate change deniers" you're just a person who likes to cause pain. You're not fighting for some righteous cause. You're just a playground bully who kicks a kid in the face when they're already down.

It's effectively no different than the fundies who claim God Smote them. If you want to change people's minds about how to make things better, tell them what you'll do now or in the future and how they join in. Don't play I Told You Sos.

Having done organizing in Appalachia, I'd say 95% of people there are kind and care about their neighbors, they just are frustrated with political disenfranchisement and politicians just taking from them. This hateful rhetoric is further isolating people.

FFS, Buncombe County, including Asheville, is as blue as it gets. There is no significant climate denier vote there.
