Whaaat? Is the argument that they should spend all their time on their job and education?

Something like: "Our students aren't doing X & all students should be doing X" "But X isn't a requirement of either their assistantship or their degree, so isn't that up to them? They have a lot on their plates you know." "ALL STUDENTS SHOULD BE DOING X!" I grow wearier of the academy by the day
