Here's the US chart for anyone interested -

A chart from Our World in Data that is displaying data on maternal mortality rates from 1900-2020. The rate drops dramatically in the 1940s, drops again in the 1980s, and rises slightly by 2020. There is a huge difference between the early 1900s and 1980 on.

That steady increase in deaths in childbirth since 1980 is unsettling, but at least it's still only up to roughly 1970 levels, I guess.
