The memory of that grown man getting up on his desk still haunts me looool
Thankfully I was muted because I straight up screamed. We then found out a few days later that we had lost the project and were being moved onto another. Two years later, the show came out, and the cats ended up looking like the Cop Dogs, but with cat ears, which is what they wanted all along.
I should have prefaced that, the show we were developing was about cats. So in the meeting, the client says that we needed to hit those cat vibes more, and on camera, gets up on his desk and starts LICKING HIMSELF LIKE A CAT. He poses, stretches, and meows on camera to show us what cats look like.
After a few months of us sending dozens of (what I thought were) really amazing designs, the client brings us all into a zoom call and says that none of what we've been sending is what they wanted. They had brought in a few other production folks to tell us we weren't hitting this toy vibe.
The project was going...weird. Anything we submitted to them was never good enough because they couldn't imagine what our designs would look like as toys. They kept pushing this "toy first" narrative onto the project despite usually needing to work the opposite direction (you make a character first)
Continuing my new hobby of archiving random memories that pop into my head: A few years ago I was doing visual development for a company (that I will not name, but let's just say they are known for a product featuring Dogs who are cops >>) who wanted to work on a spin off of their main IP.
He's clearly mad at me for some reason and to this day I have no idea what he was expecting to happen?? Did he want me to go inside and show the ladies my dog?? Was he expecting me to lure the women outside?? Was this some straight people nonsense? Going to be forever haunted by this.
