Does anyone with deep WFRP lore pockets know why the brass pennies are abbreviated as "d"?

Pennies have been abbreviated as d for a long time, even in non-currency context like size of nails (the construction fastener). en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Penny_(...

I don't! I know silver can also be "shilling," and gold are "crown," but I'm not sure why it's "d" for pennies.

I have no deep WFRP lore but old UK pennies (before decimalisation) were abbreviated as "d", from latin Denarius, i presume WFRP took it from there as it's a nice old-worldy reference?I have no deep WFRP lore but old UK pennies (before decimalisation) were abbreviated as "d", from latin Denarius, i presume WFRP took it from there as it's a nice old-worldy reference?
