you heve the most speical caterpillars around, what happened to the roseflower eating one?

I did not find any chrysalises, but a week or so after I stopped seeing the rose-eating caterpillar and its relatives I saw what I think are black swallowtails, so maybe they became swallowtails? I tried to get pictures, but they were camera-shy.
