Thus far the majority of push back I've gotten on this post seems to come from folks who weren't raised to have the tools to tackle the big emotions this film presents so they were traumatized by it. Which is exactly why I want kids to see this movie, so the same won't happen to them unsupervised.

Yeah, I can agree in principle, but what if the parents themselves are not equipped with the tools to effectively supervise the children? In that case, I'd rather have a parent who recognizes their limits and doesn't just put their kid through it.

Whole lotta parents seem to think their goal is to preserve children instead of raising adults.

I dunno. The fact that I had to reach out to my weeb gf to get the gist of what the content warning was about indicates some other issues with this movie specifically that are maybe worth being aware of before watching for some of us?

There are also other media about these topics if kids are sensitive to big emotions in film. My kid is curious and empathetic and can handle these topics, but prefers books that they can pace and pause as needed. The goal is the same, to not have them blindsided or overwhelmed without support.
