Yahoo purchased Tumblr in 2013 for $1.1B. Verizon acquired AOL and Yahoo for $8.9B in 2015 and 2017, forming media group Oath. Oath's censorship policies caused a migration from Tumblr, and they sold Tumblr to Automattic (WordPress) for $3M in 2019, a 99.8% loss.
