Hey, @littleflyingrobots.bsky.social did a great post about drones and the attempted assassination. Go read it.
It was Friday evening. I was trying to relax. And then all of a sudden, a dozen people sent me the same link. Drone news. Of course. Why does big-drone related news never seem to drop at 10:00 AM on...
I mean, they're already pretty much disposable and have been for a while.
Here's a brief piece on drone warfare between rebels and the junta in Myanmar, and its strategic implications: www.orfonline.org/expert-speak...
Some Myanmar resistance fighters claim the Myanmar military junta is using small drones to release explosives that may contain banned and restricted chemical weapons:
Myanmar's junta reportedly attacked a clinic in the Sagaing region with a "six-propeller" drone on July 10th, killing 1 health care worker and 5 wounded combatants who had been moved there after an earlier attack. myanmar-now.org/en/news/myan...
Myanmar's military junta appears to be adopting consumer-type drones of its own, reportedly mostly Chinese drones intended for agricultural spraying - myanmar-now.org/en/news/myan...
A Pa-O ethnic armed organisation fighting the junta says that the Myanmar army has been flying drones with bombs attached into targets in Hsihseng Township
I think @littleflyingrobots.bsky.social has long since been all over this kind of thing.
“The Federal Aviation Administration doesn't distinguish between a small drone and a jumbo passenger jet when it comes to attempts to sabotage commercial aircraft: shooting at one is a felony, punishable by a fine and up to 20 years in prison.”
There have been multiple incidents of gun owners shooting at drones. That presents a challenge for retailers.
A Florida man who shot down a sheriff’s drone has been sentenced to four years in prison.
A Florida man who shot down a high-end DJI drone belonging to a Sheriff’s Office has been sentenced to four years in federal prison.
“The situation at the Rafah crossing adds another layer of complexity and despair. The exorbitant fees demanded by those controlling the crossing—$5,000 USD per adult and $2,500 USD per child—are a stark reminder of the barriers that still stand between our family and safety.”
From @samzaq.bsky.social : “Despite our efforts, the Government of Canada's cap on applications has severely limited our ability to bring our entire family to safety. Out of 36 names submitted, we've only received 18 special codes necessary for the Temporary Resident Visa program applications.”
New update on my friend Ossama‘s GoFundMe, which will help his family escape Gaza for safety in Canada. Canada continues to limit visas for people escaping conflict zones, and officials at the Rafah border are price-gouging desperate people. Every donation helps immensely.
