Fun story on why zero remains a distant dream: I started at a new institution where I had worked 10 years previously. My email address had been active and diligently collecting spam and review requests in my absence for a DECADE.

Unlikely with colorimetry, but I would recommend a super low cost TDS or EC meter by HM digital - about 20 quid from a well known online retailer. Hope this helps ☺️

I am an editor who has done this! My reasoning is that reviewers' time is precious so I want them to have the best possible version of the paper (without adjusting the fundamental content), and I also want to ensure fit to journal style at the earliest possible stage. Hope that helps.
