Britain has lost half a million small businesses since Brexit and the onset of the pandemic, official figures show. The total number of private sector businesses fell by 56,000 to 5.5 million in the year to the start of 2024.

Only a very few of those were “secondary market” energy (ie electricity) companies however, which is a shame 😕

Small businesses arebdescribed as the 'backbone of British industry'. That said more thought should have been gicen to rhe consequences on them of UK leaving the EU. Did one ofvthem? There were 6 million small businesses before brext Does that mean therecare 5.5 million now, or less?
