Working through the first set of zooplankton identification for Sandy Lake (Bedford NS in Halifax Regional Municipality) in preparation for our class field work and an upcoming Aquatic Environments lab. It's always fun to take a first look at the data and see what's happening in the lake!

Microscope photographs of various cladorean and copepod zooplankton species, which are all slightly squished and beige-coloured.

And of course, taking a quick look at the diatoms and green algae in our phytoplankton tows.... We're preparing a training set for our upcoming labs so the students can learn ID skills.

Microscope photographs of algal structures, mostly clear diatom frustules.
