Tomorrow, everyone at my kid's school is supposed to wear orange shirts for anti-bullying day. My kid has decided not to wear his new orange Hello Kitty shirt because he is afraid that kids will make fun of it.
I think about this a lot these days. In his youth, my grandpa escaped Nazi occupied Poland. Years later he was forced to pack up his family and flee Soviet Russia. I would really like to be the first generation of my family in a long while that *doesn't* have to escape fascism.
