A male kudu at sunset #SundayPix#SundayPixNature

The photo is taken from a car, the wing mirror of which can just be seen in the bottom foreground. Incredibly close can be seen a male kudu, a type of antelope with large twisted horns, a humped back and thin vertical stripes on the body. The kudu is standing next to a thorn bush, partly silhouetted by the setting sun, and looking out across the flat bare plain of iSimangaliso Wetland Park near St. Lucia in South Africa.

Looking across the Venice lagoon to the island of San Giorgio Maggiore, with two gondolas kissing in the foreground [2022] #SundayPix#SundayPixRide

In the foreground, the murky green lagoon waters of Venice with a number of tall wooden stakes in the water, to one of which is moored a canopied gondola not in use. In the middle distance can be seen three gondolas, two of whose high bows appear to be just touching as the gondoliers on each stand working their oars and wearing their traditional striped jersies. In the far distance across the lagoon, between the wooden stakes, can be seen the Palladian facade and campanile of the church of San Giorgio Maggiore on the small island of the same name. The sky above is filled with white clouds.

The sign of Elizabethan Thomas Gresham's Golden Grasshopper on Lombard Street in London. #SundayPix#SundayPixLegs

Un the foreground in the sky, the sign of the Golden Grasshopper at 68 Lombard Street in London. The initials TG can be seen above with the date 1563, referring to Elizabethan merchant Thomas Gresham who owned a bank on this site. In contrast, the ultra-modern Walkie-Talkie building can be seen in the background.

The water pump in Common Place, Walsingham, Norfolk #SundayPix#SundayPixShadow

In foreground is the 16th century octagonal water pump made from brick in the middle of the village square. On top is a brazier, with the sun shining through it as if alight, casting a shadow in the foreground. In the background some old terraced cottages, the one on the left is timbered wattle & daub.

Sur le pont d'Avignon (2024) #SundayPix#SundayPixShadow

Taken on the bridge at Avignon named Pont Saint-Bénéze showing the shadow of the bridge and people on the bridge on the river Rhône, with the Palais des Papes in the background
Photo again taken from the bridge in Avignon this time in the other direction to the far bank of the river Rhône. The shadow of the bridge is seen in the water revealing that only part of the bridge remains, as it stops abruptly half way across the river.

The ruins of Whitby Abbey in Yorkshire (2021) #SundayPix#SundayPixPerspective

A view through a series of arches, part of the remains of Abbey on the headland at Whitby. The columns on the left cast a series of shadows across a path which leads to a ruined wall in the distance. A couple of houses in the town of Whitby can just about be seen in the far distance through a large window hole in the wall.

The tomb of Edward II at Gloucester Cathedral, taken in 2020. The king died in captivity at Berkeley Castle on 21 September 1327, and some suspect he was murdered. #SundayPix#SundayPixPerspective

The alabaster effigy of King Edward II on top of his tomb, with his crowned head in the foreground and his body tapering away into the distance under a series of arched columns. Lots of graffiti can be seen scratched into the alabaster body.

A view of the Derbyshire countryside from Bolsover Castle (2021) #SundayPix#SundayPixPerspective

View through a heavy old decorated wooden door which is open, out through an outer arch and through a big red outer gate, with one gate closed and one open through which can be seen fields and trees in the far distance under an overcast sky.
