Do you know of any research on this? It seems clear that early decision has the potential to decrease equity especially given financial aid deadlines, but I don’t think I’ve seen any work testing that
Thank you! I do think that transfer student support has expanded over the time period based on my conversations with administrative staff at TX colleges, but it seems like there is still a ways to go. Regarding generalization outside TX, see here: bsky.app/profile/lois...
Thank you! Yes and no - TX does have a pretty decentralized transfer system, which can lead to more information and transfer frictions for students. On the other hand, qual work has found transfer students face barriers in a variety of contexts. Some of it is summarized in this para from my paper:
