For decades, right-wingers told us same-sex marriage would lead to a war on Christianity. 7 years after marriage equality, the consequences have been so boring that Republicans literally had to make up a case where they imagined they were victimized to justify more bigotry.

The fact is people are less religious than they have ever been. I am not sure that same-sex marriage was the reason, but factually people are reporting being less religious. That could be the fault of the faithful being regressive. Or their fears being self-fulfilling. But it is in fact happening.
