“This drug was not covered by insurance so was $104 but we put it on a coupon so it’s $12.” The system is so fucking fucked. This is not news to anyone. But it is.

free-market econ types: "government control of prices is bad, because without being able to freely adjust prices, how are buyers and sellers supposed to signal each other?" me: "so what signal does 'either $104 or $12' send?" free-market types: "f*cked if we know!"

I submitted a reimbursement claim tonight knowing they arent going to pay for one reason or another but I'm going to make them take every single step.

"This medication is $5k a month unless you give us your name, address, phone number, and email address in which case it's $35." What.

Right? One of mine is like that. My plan covers nearly everything for $0-$3 which I love. But not a couple select things which get... very, very expensive. But the pharmacy can knock one down from $75/mo to $25? Like. Why didn't my insurance. The other is over $150 & the COMPANY ITSELF discounts it.

I'm on a medication with a list price of ~$3000. My "specialty medicine" copay is 25%. I've paid $0 a month, thanks to a copay card. It replaced two (less effective) medicines with a total list price of ~$150, and a total copay of $10.

I love being in the special insurance club, where we get to pay more for medications and services You can tell everyone else is jealous when they only get to pay just the direct cost

“So it’s not worth $100 and never was, then. You just wanted to see if I’d pay that.”

My insurance will only cover Zofran for people on chemo. But various coupons make it sort of affordable. In the meantime, it completely pays for the $10K/month medications I take. 🤷‍♀️
