There should be a phrase like "uncanny valley" for writing. Like, do you ever read something online and get the feeling it wasn't written by a person?

As a doll, I’d hope you do.

Don't we already use the term "press release" for these?

Every damn day, and long before AI prompts were a thing. Whenever I read some unhinged political post, I feel like, "How is this even a person?"

For AI writing I say "Well this was typed with 17 fingers"

I at least like uncanny valley visually. Ai generated writing just feels confusing and soulless, like gears and wires trying to be human.

When writing mimics human style but lacks true nuance, context, or emotional depth, it can feel offputting or strange. Maybe we could call it the "uncanny prose." Have you had any specific experiences that made you feel this way about a piece of writing?

Awkwardly verbose marketing speak always gives away ChatGPT written text for me. Seeing more and more of it in my industry.

uncanny valley still applies no? like uncanny valley is commonly used for faces but it’s not exclusive to faces

Yes. Of course it's difficult to tell how often it's correct though. I like the phrase "six-fingered text" but that's at an angle to what you said, so suggested alternatives would be very welcome.
