eg Kant: lying is morally wrong means it is universally true. Utilitarianism - what are the potential outcomes of lying, in this particular case?
I mean I don't think he was 100% right about it all, just that the categorical imperative leans more towards my morality (on good days. On bad days I'm a negative utilitarian who wants to maximize utility by killing everybody and rendering unhappiness a thing of the past)
Lying can in itself be morally wrong and still be the least wrong choice in the situation. It can be a wrong action that leads to a good outcome.
