I led a group of birders on a trip today and they asked how I'd gotten so good at birding in only a couple years. There is no easy/good way to explain that the answer is "ADHD." This is my hyperfocus and the birds are all nice enough to be fleeting, moving things just out of view. ADHD catnip!

Hmm I'm now thinking that you could really skew the data if you joined. Like imagine 10 years of like '137, 121, 140, 139, etc etc salamanders' and then Salamanders Louisa comes in like 250!! I discovered a new subspecies!

On nature walks I love noticing unique things and telling people about them immediately. “There’s a red bird!” “Look at that mushroom!” “I hear water nearby!” I’d have been so useful in a hunter-gatherer society 😩
