YO???? UCR virologist and paper author Rong Hai: “It is broadly applicable to any number of viruses, broadly effective against any variant of a virus, and safe for a broad spectrum of people. This could be the universal vaccine that we have been looking for.”

Vaccine breakthrough means no more chasing strains
Vaccine breakthrough means no more chasing strains

Scientists at UC Riverside have demonstrated a new, RNA-based vaccine strategy that is effective against any strain of a virus and can be used safely even by babies or the immunocompromised.

📢 App Version 1.78 is a bugfix for account creation In some cases, it was possible for the app to hang indefinitely while creating an account. The update fixed that issue!

Seems like a good time to remind everyone of one of the best headlines of the last decade: "British scientists don't like Richard Dawkins, finds study that didn't even ask questions about Richard Dawkins"

Guardian article: British scientists don't like Richard Dawkins, finds study that didn't even ask questions about Richard Dawkins

The investigation into science's public image didn't even ask about the atheist professor, but it got an answer anyway

My latest cartoon for New Scientist

The female scientist says "The simulator can replicate our world at various levels of detail. Level one
presents you as a rudimentary icon"
The male scientist looks at the computer screen which shows a blocky image of a man.
She continues "Whereas level ten is almost identitical to the real you"
The image on the screen looks exactly like the male scientist (i.e. a simple cartoon).
"Incredible! What happens at level eleven" says the male scientist pressing a button.
"Don't press that!" she cries, too late.
"Aaagh!" he screams, terrified. The image of him on the screen is now more detailed/realistic than anything else in the whole cartoon.

This sums it up perfectly. It’s not a conversation.

“There is no ethical way to use the major AI image generators. All of them are trained on stolen images, and all of them are built for the purpose of deskilling, disempowering and replacing real human artists.”

What I love about #Fleabag is the fact that everyone in this series is not evil for evil's sake, but they're driven to such due to very human circumstances. Now that doesn't mean that they're totally blameless of it, but it does make one think.
