For me, a game more like Hive. I have a precious few games that I can pull out at a picnic or outdoor activity like I can with Hive.

Oh wow. I had never heard of that game before, but that description is intriguing!

I just need an extra room to be added to my house, so I can get one of those!

Wingspan: Asia has starting hands as well as telling you what to do for the first three or so turns. Super helpful for learning. Race for the Galaxy has something similar, but I don't recall how specific it gets telling you what to do.

🎲✂️ If any publishers are interested in looking at a light-medium weight game of engine building and dice manipulation, I'd love to demo Bot Builders for you! It's been well received by play testers over the last few years, and has some aspects that I think are pretty distinct.

Apropos of nothing: here is Superman from 1949 (Source: www.dc.com/blog/2017/08...)

A 1950s-era color poster of Superman speaking to school children about the importance of respecting diversity. Superman says: "And remember, boys and girls, your school -- like our country -- is made up of Americans of many different races, religions, and national origins, so if YOU hear anybody talk against a schoolmate or anyone else because of their Religion, race, or national origin, don't wait: tell him THAT KIND OF TALK IS UN-AMERICAN

What things people write that instantly make editors think "This is their first novel." Like, a checklist of things people can look for when first self-editing their novel, to remove before passing it on to someone professional.
