It's official: Mask ban in Nassau County, New York passes along party lines, 12-0 (7 abstentions). It makes wearing a mask a misdemeanor (with unclear health and religious exceptions) and gives police the power to fine people wearing a mask $1,000 and sentence them to jail time.

The anti mask people tend to also be anti vax. I can’t go into details (privacy) but someone I care for has an early 40’s, anti vax/mask family member who was recently diagnosed w/dementia. Multiple infections heighten risk of Long Covid which has neurological ties. Misinformation is deadly.
They’re now calling for mask bans in the UK after the recent rioting. If they ban masks, my life with lupus & LC is even more over than it currently is.
