Applying for postdoc jobs? I’ve just spent two days reading applications for a position in my lab, and I have a few tips that might be helpful for others... All just my ideas, but these are things that came up several times:

1. If you don’t meet one of the essential criteria, I would contact the PI in advance to ask whether you should still apply. Some really *are* essential and if you don’t meet it, your application can’t progress - so save yourself from wasting time by checking in advance
