What I meant is that when I was a postdoc with an h-index of 12, I didn't get as much respect as now that I'm a group leader with an h-index of 45

The only thing that stopped this for me is having a decent h-index I might even deadpan "oh, I'm sure there is" in response to that question and it'll get the message across

As they say, the purpose of a system is what it does and most tools are used not to make predictions that will be tested but to make predictions that can "aid interpretation" (i.e., write up a story for a Discussion section of a paper that will never get tested)
